Our leadership team and advisors bring decades of experience in coaching, scouting, and program development across sports and the nonprofit sector. We believe baseball can be a powerful tool for youth development and for uniting communities around the world.

John Fitzgerald

Founder & Executive Director

John, a father of three sons, is an award-winning healthcare communications executive with a background in documentary filmmaking. His 2006 documentary, The Emerald Diamond, told the story of Ireland’s National Baseball Team and inspired the creation of Emerald Diamond International (EDI). Since 2007, he has been actively involved in supporting and growing the game of baseball in Ireland.

In 2017, he established the country’s first Junior National Baseball Team and served as the team’s General Manager, leading them to Ireland’s first gold medal in international baseball. In 2019, he founded the Irish American Baseball Society, a nonprofit subsidiary of EDI.

Tim Carr

Board of Directors, President

Tim Carr is a retired automotive industry executive from Birmingham, Michigan. As a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, he takes great pride in his Irish heritage. A dedicated supporter of Detroit sports, particularly the Tigers, Tim also has a deep passion for historical research.

He has played a key role in developing the Irish American Baseball Society’s genealogical database, which documents the Irish ancestry of over 300 players, coaches, and executives.

Tim and his wife, Jen, are proud parents of five adult children and grandparents to five grandchildren.

Kevin Foy

Board of Directors, Vice-President

Kevin is a financial executive from Darien, Connecticut, where he lives with his wife, Eilidh—a professional harpist—and their three children. Kevin, who is a dual citizen of Ireland and the United States, brings over 25 years of experience in finance from his time in NYC, London, Thailand and Singapore. Originally from Long Island, New York, Kevin was an outfielder for Fordham University and Long Island University, earning All-Patriot League and All-New York State Team honors. Kevin was a key player on Ireland’s National Baseball Team from 2002-2006, a period that saw Ireland win its first two medals in international competition.

Father Daniel O'Reilly

Father Daniel O’Reilly, pastor of St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. He attended Regis High School, studied philosophy at Princeton University, and later earned Master’s degrees in theology and divinity from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. Ordained in 2003, he began his ministry as parochial vicar at Resurrection Church in Rye, New York. He has since held various leadership roles within the Archdiocese of New York, including Catholic Chaplain at Columbia University, pastor of Corpus Christi Church, Director of Campus Ministry, Spiritual Director at St. John Neumann Seminary College, and Catholic Chaplain at SUNY Maritime College.

Paul Cunnie

Paul Cunnie is a longtime youth baseball coach, administrator, and civic leader in the San Francisco area. He served as Section Director for PONY Baseball Inc. (1993-2003) and played a key role in merging the Daly City COLT and Joe DiMaggio programs into the Daly City Colt/Joe DiMaggio Baseball Program, which he led as a nonprofit organization until retiring in 2020. He was also a Peninsula Colt League Board member (1995-2020), serving as Vice President (2012-2020). He also served on the State Board of Directors for the Joe DiMaggio League.

Beyond baseball, Cunnie was a civic leader, chairing both the Daly City Park and Recreation Commission (1997-2000) and the Planning Commission (2000-2005).

Brian McGlinchey

Brian M.P. McGlinchey is a founding partner of The Westport Maven Group, a boutique public affairs strategy and consulting firm headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware with offices in Washington  D.C. and Philadelphia.

Prior to founding the Westport Maven with his partners, Mr. McGlinchey was managing director for McCarter Government Solutions and senior advisor at McCarter & English, LLP, the second oldest law firm in the U.S. For a near decade, Brian worked with regional, multinational and international businesses and organizations, providing them with sound counsel.

A dual citizen of Ireland and America, Brian served as Honorary Consul General of Ireland for the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs (DE), managing the consulate office on the Wilmington Riverfront. Brian was a Co-Chair of the 2024 Ireland Funds National Gala whose global philanthropic network supports peace, culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland.

Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy is a Senior Advisor to the Chicago Sports Network. Previously, Mike was the former President of Madison Square Garden Network, The Marquee Sports Network, and the St Louis Blues. His father, John, was the head groundskeeper and stadium manager of Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets. His uncle, Pete Flynn from County Leitrim, was also a head groundskeeper for the Mets and is a member of the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame.

Dan Kennedy

Dan is a respected leader in the youth baseball space and a former professional baseball player in the Cubs, Orioles, and Red Sox organizations. After retiring from the game as a player, Dan served as President of the Connecticut Baseball Academy (1994-2021) and Team Connecticut Baseball (TCB), while also directing tournaments and showcases for Super East Baseball, Perfect Game USA, and Steel Sports. 

In 2018, Dan was named one of the Most Influential People in New England Baseball by the New England Baseball Journal. He has been a speaker at the World Baseball Coaches Convention. He holds memberships with multiple baseball organizations, including the Professional Ball Players of America and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Currently, he is the Northeast Regional Director for Green Sox Baseball, General Manager for The Pro Stock Royals in Charlotte, NC, and a Board Member of Emerald Diamond International. Dan resides in Manchester, CT, with his wife, Diane, and has two sons and two stepsons.

Robert Score

Board of Directors

Bobby is a longtime baseball fan, proud father, and an administrator for several youth baseball programs. He has dedicated many years to Lincoln Center in New York City as a member of the IATSE Local One stage crew, specializing in lighting. In addition to his technical expertise, he served as the Local One Recording-Corresponding Secretary for 18 years before retiring in 2020. Bobby continues to contribute as a member of the Entertainment Community Fund Human Services Committee and actively volunteers with Encore Community Services and the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation.

Patrick Winters

Board of Directors

Patrick is a lifelong baseball player and fan who specializes in improving organizational efficiency and operations. He was recognized as “Association Executive of the Year” by his peers, and one of his organizations received the prestigious “Association of the Year” award in international competition. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University, has completed MPA studies at the University of Colorado, and earned his Institute of Organization Management (IOM) designation from the University of Notre Dame.

Chris McKnight

Board of Directors

Chris McKnight has had an extensive career in baseball, spanning coaching, scouting, and player development. He has written extensively on the topic of coaching baseball, authoring articles for publications such as Scholastic Coach, Coach and Athletic Director, and the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Coaching Digest.

Chris had a 20-year collegiate coaching career as the head coach of Frostburg State University and Dowling College. He also served as the manager and Director of Baseball Operations for the Texarkana Gunslingers of the professional Continental League, before serving as a scout in the Phillies and Orioles organizations.

Chris has also served as the Chairperson for the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee and he is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the Virginia Baseball Coaches Association, where he sits on the Advisory Board. He also holds A, B, and C certifications with the USA Baseball ACE Program. He is currently the Vice President of Baseball and Softball Operations at Tuckahoe Sports in Richmond, VA.
